The wait is officially over. Chris Bumstead, the seven-time Classic Physique Olympia champion, has confirmed he will compete in the Open division at the 2026 Mr. Olympia in Prague — ending eighteen months of speculation, social media teasers, and gym-floor gossip.
The announcement landed via Instagram on Wednesday afternoon and immediately broke comment counts across the bodybuilding internet. Bumstead's longtime coach Hany Rambod confirmed shortly after that the prep is already underway, with the team targeting a stage weight in the 270–275 lb range.
The move marks the most consequential roster change since Phil Heath's 2020 comeback attempt. Open is currently led by Samson Dauda after his shock 2025 win, but the entire division is now bracing for the gravitational pull of a Bumstead arrival.
